Impending migration of the unbound-users mailing list to community.nlnetlabs.nl

Dear unbound-users list,

Following our previous announcement [1] of NLnet Labs' new platform for
discussion on our various open source projects, we would like to
introduce community.nlnetlabs.nl [2], our new platform for discussion on
our various open source projects.

Over the last years, the number of projects and collaboration platforms
we maintain for our community has grown to the point where we wanted to
offer a consolidated experience.
We chose Discourse because this platform allows you to continue using
email, but also offers a searchable web interface.

Unbound will have its own category which will be the equivalent of this
unbound-users mailing list.

We have now entered the last phase of that transition which includes the
**migration** of this unbound-users mailing list.

This is a pre-notice that as of **April 1st 2026**, you will no longer
be able to subscribe and post to the unbound-users mailing list.
A reminder email will follow on the same day.

The mailing list archives will be kept for at least one year at their
mailman instance.

The mailing list archives will be imported into the Discourse instance.
This means two things:
- All the past information and knowledge of this mailing list will be
available in the new platform, also with an easier searchable
   interface.
- User email information will be retained per message.
When a user signs up, all the previous messages to the mailing list
   account.

Please note that we will not subscribe you to community.nlnetlabs.nl
automatically, so if you want to stay up to date on Unbound related
announcements, please create an account.
For those of you that prefer to stick to an e-mail workflow, have a look
at the FAQ [2] linked below.

Lastly, please keep our Code of Conduct and Community Guidelines [3] in
mind.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to community.nlnetlabs.nl !

Be aware that the Unbound category will be available starting on April
1st, after the migration is completed.

On behalf of the NLnet Labs team,
-- Yorgos

Dear unbound-users list,

As of today, April 1 2026, following the previous announcement quoted below, you can no longer subscribe and post to the unbound-users mailing list.
We will keep the archives available for at least one year.

As previously shared, the mailing list archives will also be imported into the Discourse instance at:
  https://community.nlnetlabs.nl/

This means two things:
- All the past information and knowledge of this mailing list will be available in the new platform, also with an easier searchable interface.
- User email information will be retained per message. When a user signs up, all the previous messages to the mailing list sent with that email address will be linked to the new activated account.

Please note that we will not subscribe you to community.nlnetlabs.nl
automatically, so if you want to stay up to date on Unbound related
announcements, please create an account.
For those of you that prefer to stick to an e-mail workflow, have a look
at the FAQ [1] linked below.

Lastly, please keep our Code of Conduct and Community Guidelines [2] in
mind.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to community.nlnetlabs.nl !

Be aware that the migration window will take place at the platform **between 07:00 UTC and 09:00 UTC on April 1st**.
During that time the platform will be in read-only mode to facilitate the import.
Signing up will not work during that time as well.
After the migration window is closed the 'Unbound' category will become available.

2 posts were split to a new topic: Where is the logout option?

The timing is not the best in this case. Post sent on the 1th April saying something is cancelled is not the best date for any serious announcements. But this was true, right? unbound-users is discontinued already?

There was a pre-announcement on March 25th ahead of the effective date of April 1st.

It is true, unbound-users is in archive-only mode since April 1st.
