Unbound on windows

Hello guys, first message here.

I was curious to know if any users here actually use unbound on windows ? I only
heard about unbound today, it was mentionned that pfsense is using unbound for
its dns server, and pfsense seems to have a good reputation. My coworkers are
microsoft windows admins, and I am looking for an easy alternative to manage our
DNS server. Could unbound be a possible candidate ? is there any GUI to it or is
it 100% text based ?

Thanks for any feedback.

Best,

Yassine

If you are looking for a all-in-one solution. Unbound will be missing the GUI you seem to be looking for.

Note:

NSD <=> *Auth* DNS Server

Unbound <=> *Recursive* resolver

Thank you Chriztoffer. I might look for alternatives then.

Both pfSense and OPNSense uses a customized GUI, then parses the configured options into the format for either running DNSMasq or Unbound.

If you want to move away from using Windows DNS Server + GUI. You should be prepared to scour for options with a decoupled GUI interface from the actual Recursive Resolver / Authoritative DNS Server software.
There do exists more than a handful of commercial options that gives you a single package, where the commercial provider have done the integration between a GUI and DNS software underneath for you.
