Is there a mailing list specifically for questions about working with Unbound internals? Questions could be asked about how to do X with mesh_* or whatever. Or is unbound-users the most appropriate place for this still?
Additionally is there an IRC channel to idle in with other like minded Unbound users?

There is an #unbound channel on freenode which appears to be somewhat
official.. but it's always empty!

At NLnet Labs we do not use an _official_ #unbound IRC channel.
Discussions about unbound internals are rare, lets have them here. We can spawn off a list if there seems to be popular demand or the esoteric discussion start to take to much of the bandwidth.
